Made From Good Decisions

Every year, Earth Day gives all of us a chance to focus and invest on the wellbeing of our planet especially when it comes to climate change, one of the most pressing issues we’re currently facing.

“All TOGETHER now! This is the moment to change it all — the business climate, the political climate, and how we take action on climate. Now is the time for the unstoppable courage to preserve and protect our health, our families, our livelihoods… together, we must Invest In Our Planet. […]

As individuals, we have the simple yet effective power to make our voices heard through our choices, our civic actions, and our personal interactions. What each of us does, and how we do it, has a huge ripple effect on our ecosystems, and on the pace of corporate and government action.” — From EARTHDAY.ORG

Now is the time for the unstoppable courage to preserve and protect our health, our families, our livelihoods… together, we must Invest In Our Planet

Everyday choices can be as concrete as shopping sustainably and caring for our clothes to reduce our carbon footprint and protect our planet’s soil, fresh waters, and oceans. 🌱💦

Here are a few simple tips to help you fill an environmentally-friendly closet that looks great and lasts a long time: buy clothes from sustainable brands or even choose to buy pre-owned clothing, shop locally, buy clothing made from natural fabrics instead of synthetic fabrics and, finally, donate or sell unwanted garments.

That is why the 14th Annual Malibu Half Marathon & 5K has partnered up with the first vegan approved footwear brand that prioritises sustainable, plant based materials: Zen Running Club.

Zen Running Club had a vision for a plant powered innovative active footwear which didn’t sacrifice either comfort or style.

The result is a unique lightweight, cushioned and responsive shoe, ZR 01, made from just three main plant-based ingredients: sugar cane, eucalyptus, and natural rubber.

"I am really blown away…that a running shoe that feels and looks this good can be so sustainable."— Simon Freeman, Like the Wind Magazine

Their ultimate goal is to create 100% plant-based products within a perfect ‘closed loop’, where the soil created from composting old shoes helps grow the materials to make new shoes. Much of their idea is already happening and we’ll be keeping a close eye on them as this is a much needed step in the right direction.
